Sound like a familia you're ready to join? Here's the details on what we are looking for in this position:
LUZCO Technologies is seeking an experienced Physical Substation Engineer to join our team on either a part-time or full-time basis. This role will focus on performing Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) reviews of physical substation design packages. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in substation physical layout, constructability, and utility standards, and is committed to upholding engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Review general arrangements, sections, conduit plans, grounding, and equipment layouts for accuracy and constructability.
- Ensure compliance with utility standards, NESC/NEC codes, and Luzco’s internal QA/QC expectations.
- Provide detailed redlines, technical feedback, and mentorship to design teams.
- Assist in enhancing and maintaining QA/QC checklists and internal review procedures.
- Collaborate with project leads and engineers to resolve design issues and ensure quality deliverables.
Required Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in substation physical design (greenfield and brownfield).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet review deadlines with minimal oversight.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of utility substation layout, design standards, and industry best practices.
- Strong proficiency reviewing CAD-based deliverables (AutoCAD or MicroStation).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience performing QA/QC in a consulting engineering environment.
- Familiarity with Ameren or other Midwest utility standards.
- Willingness to attend occasional meetings during normal business hours.
Work Arrangement:
Flexible remote work is available, though preference will be given to candidates located near the St. Louis, MO office who may be able to attend occasional in-person meetings if needed.
