We are building a brand-new Civil Engineering department. Your leadership will shape it from the ground up. In the early weeks and months, you will be hands-on with grading, drainage, substation site planning, foundation design, and structural analysis. As the workload grows, your role will shift into full-time supervision, leading hiring efforts, mentoring team members, and ensuring quality across all deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Lead civil design tasks including site grading, drainage, substation layout, foundations, and structural modification work
Recruit, onboard, and mentor junior and mid-level civil engineers
Oversee self-performed civil packages and review support-team deliverables
Coordinate with clients, internal electrical teams, utilities, and contractors
Conduct QA/QC reviews and ensure compliance with NESC, local codes, and geotechnical standards
Assist with civil scoping, estimating, and proposal development
Develop and refine internal processes, design standards, and documentation
Support occasional site visits and field activities
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering;
PE (Civil or Structural) strongly preferred
7 or more years of experience in utility, substation, and civil site design, including grading, drainage, foundations, and structural analysis
Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and mentoring staff
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, structural analysis software, and LPile.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Self-starter with an entrepreneurial approach to leadership
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 10 to 20 percent based on project needs
