LUZCO is seeking a Transmission Line Engineering Lead to oversee a high-performing design team and drive technical excellence across diverse utility projects. This role combines hands-on design work with leadership responsibilities, offering the opportunity to shape processes, mentor engineers, and contribute to business development. Ideal candidates will bring deep transmission design expertise, strong PLS-CADD skills, and a collaborative mindset.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Transmission Line Design Team, supporting growth through strategic hiring and mentorship.
  • Prepare project proposals and assist in securing new work through client engagement and business development.
  • Review and refine internal processes and procedures to enhance team performance and project outcomes.
  • Deliver complete transmission line designs while guiding and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with electrical utilities to upgrade sub-transmission lines using fiber optic technology.
  • Develop overhead transmission line designs with advanced proficiency in PLS-CADD.
  • Conduct field surveys (in and out of state), assess structure integrity, ensure compliance with NESC and client clearance standards, and prepare construction and record documentation.
  • Travel up to 15% for field work and site visits.
  • Support additional responsibilities as needed, including temporary coverage of other roles.
  • Demonstrate deep expertise in transmission design and a comprehensive understanding of the project lifecycle.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of experience designing overhead and underground power lines, including PLS-CADD.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Civil or Structural).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license for multi-state travel.
  • Proficiency in Excel and ability to lead engineering meetings and client interactions.
